Manuel Rodriguez

This is a drawing of Manuel Rodríguez, the true Guerrillero, a hero of the Chilean Independence, with his men after ambushing a spaniard column. Manuel Rodríguez and his Huasos harassed the spanish from 1814 to 1817, using guerrilla warfare and causing many trouble to the Reconquista. He always disguised himself to not get cought, in one occasion the spaniards entered a church where he was hiding, he dressed himself as a priest and guided them through the church looking for himslef, of course he wasnt cought and the spaniards left. He also took a town defended by well armed troops only with a bunch of militia armed with knives and pistols using a bag of stones tied to a horse to simulate moving artillery and he scred the spanish off the town. He even opened the door of the Spanish governor Osorio's couch dressed as a peasant and got some tip from him.
Manuel was killed in 1818, by his same countrymen, because of political fights in the new born country.
